The Nepal List: A complete checklist of the avifauna of Nepal at the subspecies level

Introduction

With advancements in science and technology and increasing passion on nature and photography, new information on the rare bird or bird outside the distribution and outside-season is being coming frequently in Nepal. The lack of authorized organization, such records bring excitement as well as a debate among bird lovers. To build harmony among the bird lover communities and to minimize the conflicts, the Nepalese Ornithological Union established Nepal Bird Record Committees (NBRC) with responsibility for providing scientific evidences regarding rare records and maintaining the Nepal List (a list of all species and subspecies of wild birds recorded in Nepal). The checklist of the avifauna of Nepal contains, all the species and sub-species recorded till date-excluding a few debating species. The checklist editions are only published every two years or so years.

Changes to the list between editions are published in NOU News and included in the simple list.
